This olive, called “La Bella di Cerignola” (the Beautiful from Cerignola), is native of Foggia region and it bears DOP certification. It is a very particular olive thanks to its dimension as it has a large oval shaped, the biggest table olive in the world; its weight can arrive at 18 gr. for each fruit! It has ancient origin, some people tell that it dates back to Roman period, while others assert that it has been imported by Spanish. Anyway, in Cerignola area, this olive began its cultivation in 1400. The first time you will see these olives you’ll remain astonished by their dimension and above all its flavour. It is most often served as a starter, or a snack, with meat and cheese.
